GROUNDWORKS

Ground Works

Summit Landscapes offer a vast range of groundworks services to both commercial and residential clients. We have completed projects for Cambridge University, local dentist practices, primary and secondary schools, language schools, nurseries, offices, Cambridge County Council and Cambridge City Council.

We also work with many local builders, architects and self-build domestic property developers.

Earth Moving

Most landscaping and building projects require an element of earth moving as part of the preparatory groundworks; this is an area where time and money are often lost. To be as efficient as possible, it is important to have the right groundworking equipment.

Summit Landscapes have mini-diggers, micro-diggers and tracked dumpers that we can deploy to all our Cambridge landscaping projects. Our micro-diggers, being only 750mm wide (including tracks), come in very handy where access is limited. Where micro-excavators can’t gain access, we have a huge range of breakers and other handheld machinery available.

Footings for Buildings, Extensions & Conservatory Bases

Summit Landscapes are thoroughly experienced in preparation for building work and following architectural drawings or verbal instructions. When the work is off-plan, we can also advise on what is required for the project.

Drainage, Land Drainage & Soakaways

Summit Landscapes cover all areas of drainage; from sewage systems to oil separation and chemical collection tanks in industrial settings.
Drainage is planned into every groundworks project, no matter how small – even if it is just as simple as creating a fall on a level area to allow water runoff.
Summit Landscapes have overseen land drainage, often with the addition of mechanical pumping equipment. All surfacing that we install has some form of drainage.

Concreting & Surfacing

Summit Landscapes have a team of professionals working solely on Tarmac and concreting. Our foreman has been in the surfacing business for 30 years and has overseen a vast amount of work in that time. We can advise on surface thicknesses, admixtures, fibres, reinforcement and finishes and provide you with every relevant option.

Kerbs & Edging

Kerbs and edging stones can be both structural and/or decorative. When Summit Landscapes are installing any kerbs or edging, they are installed on a solid and strong concrete bed and the sides hunched and smoothed. This is the area of any groundworks project where you can see the quality of the workmanship. We take extra time and special care to make sure straight edges are just so and any curves are marked out evenly.

Stables & Equestrian

With Newmarket Racecourse just a stone’s throw from Cambridge, Summit Landscapes sees a large demand for local stables and equestrian work.
We can apply our groundwork skills to oversee the construction and renovation of
stables, stable bases, horse walker bases, field shelters and bases, stableyards, riding arenas, fencing, tracks, footpaths, bridleways and associated drainage. Summit Landscapes can offer a full planning and advice service and are extremely focused on our clients’ needs and the stables’ inhabitants.

Carparks

Most carpark surfaces are finished in Tarmac and we take care of the whole project from start to finish, including the planning for drainage and any local planning requirements.

Footpaths

In many commercial applications for schools, parks and open spaces, footpaths are finished in many different surfaces, from block paving, resin bound gravel and Tarmac.

Tennis Courts

Over the years, Summit Landscapes have completed a number of tennis court constructions in and around Cambridgeshire. Grass is obviously a firm favourite in the UK; however, we also provide Tarmac and AstroTurf courts. On the hard surfaces, we provide drainage solutions and take care of every other aspect of the build.

Recessed Trampolines & Hot Tubs

Summit Landscapes are often asked to make trampolines safer or better utilise space for hot tubs. This can be done by lowering them to (and under) ground level. This involves excavation and retaining the soil sides.
